Pilot Sites in Slovakia
The two Slovakian pilot sites, the regions of Martin and Dolny Kubin, are popular tourist regions with summer hiking and winter skiing resorts. Martin has a medical university attracting foreign students, and a large industry supporting the Volkswagen group with expat employees. Potential epSOS patients include tourists from the Czech Republic, Denmark and the Netherlands, German commuters, and foreign students. Two fully equipped hospitals, seven GPs, eight specialists, and eight pharmacies will perform the epSOS services.
Patient Summary and ePrescription will be available for approximately 10,000 Slovak citizens equipped with so-called smart-cards, enabling them to seek HCPs or pharmacies abroad, mainly as tourists in Spain, Austria and Italy, as commuters to the Czech Republic, or as outgoing students.
