5th - 6th December 2011

This first edition of the Innovation Convention was opened by President Barroso one year after the adoption of the Innovation Union flagship initiative, the EU's roadmap to turn Europe into a more innovation-friendly and competitive continent. 

The conference brought together world leading experts in research and innovation to share their views on building a global innovation economy. The Innovation Convention 2011 was led by the President of the European Commission, Mr. José Manuel Barroso and Máire Geoghegan-Quinn, European Commissioner for Research, Innovation, and Science. It is Europe's premier innovation event, with 1,200 or more selected participants.

The Innovation Convention exhibition accompanied the convention and showcased exciting research and innovation results developed under European funding programmes. 

Following a call for exhibitors open to projects supported by the EU's Framework Programme for Research and the EU's Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme, around 50 projects were selected. epSOS was among the selected projects and was present at this event.

17th - 18th November 2011

The Polish Presidency of the European Union and the European Commission organised in co-operation the 6th Ministerial eGovernment Conference, entitled "Borderless eGovernment Services for Europeans", on 17 - 18th November 2011 in the City of Poznań. The conference was a major event during the Polish Presidency and attracted approximately 900 stakeholders from around the world.

Neelie Kroes, Vice-President of the European Commission and Commissioner responsible for the Digital Agenda once more underlined in her opening speech the important role of the LSPs contributing to the digital Single Market. Project Coordinator Fredrik Linden had the opportunity to inform the Commissioner about the progress and results of the epSOS project.

At the conference exhibition, the most recent European developments in the field of eGovernment services and applications were showcased – both at national and European level. 

The epSOS project was part of the exhibition stand of the European Commission with the other Large Scale Pilots (LSP) facilitating cross-border services in Europe. For the very first time epSOS was appearing under the newly developed common LSP umbrella design representing the joint motto ‘build, connect, grow’ and the epSOS vision of "making healthcare better" for a future digital Single Market. At the booth in Poznan epSOS was demonstrated using the live pilot environment.

9th - 11th November 2011

On the 10th of November 2011 the "epSOS pilots setting sail" event took place in Athens, Greece. 5th - 8th October 2011

The EHFG 2011(European Health Forum Gastein) took place from 5 - 8 October, 2011 in Bad Hofgastein (Austria). This year's theme was about "Innovation & Wellbeing - Europe’s Health in 2020 and beyond".

20th - 22nd September 2011

The IQPC'S Innovations in E-Health & Informatics Europe conference and workshop took place from 20 - 22 September, 2011 in London (England). Jeremy Thorp, Quality Manager and responsible person for the planning and implementation of activities aimaing at serving the Openness and Transparancy policies in epSOS, held an epSOS presentation at this event.

10th - 12th May 2011

The 2011 year’s World of Health IT Conference and Exhibition (WoHIT) was hosted by the Hungarian EU-Presidency and took place in Budapest from May 10 - 12, 2011. It was held in conjunction with the annual eHealth High Level Ministerial Conference – eHealth2011 – which was co-organised by the European Commission and the Hungarian Presidency of the EU.

In its fifth edition, the World of Health IT Conference and Exhibition was designed to connect leading health information and communication technology experts. The event offered educational sessions, vendor exhibitions, new product launches, interoperability demonstrations, exchange of experiences and networking sessions, and other professional development opportunities. Representatives of the epSOS project were among the participants. Furthermore, a live demo was presented at the epSOS booth to provide a clearer picture of the services offered by epSOS.

11th - 15 April 2011

The second epSOS Projectathon took place in Pisa (Italy) from April 11th to 15th, 2011. Parallel to the regular IHE Connectathon, 13 epSOS Participating Nations from Europe and 2 companies took advantage of the chance to test the interoperability of their systems with the goal of exchanging cross-border patient data with other nations using the integration profiles developed by IHE. 16th February 2011

On February 16th, 2011 the European Commission invited the different LSPs for a discussion on the sustainability of the projects. From epSOS, project coordinator Fredrik Lindén and Dissemination Work Package Leader Tanja Niederländer participated in the meeting to present their views on the participation in common Digital Agenda events by focusing on the current activities that are being done within the epSOS project.

2nd - 3rd February 2011

This year’s Industry Team's Annual Face-to-Face Meeting took place in Tallinn, Estonia, from February 2 - 3. The goal of the meeting was to discuss the Team’s recent progress and to define strategies for the upcoming project period.

18th January 2011

On January 18, epSOS Beneficiary IZIP (Czech Republic) organized a press conference on epSOS, which took place at the Café Imperial in Prague. The Czech radio station Radio Impuls covered the topic on the same day.
