Pilot Sites in Spain
The five pilot sites in Spain – the regions of Andalusia, the Balearic Islands, Castile-La Mancha, Catalonia and Valencia – are world-famous holiday destinations attracting millions of visitors every year. Due to intense tourism, which is subject to significant seasonal fluctuations in both the city and the seaside, a large number of incoming patients are expected to arrive especially in Andalusia, the Balearic Islands, Catalonia and Valencia. The main target group of the epSOS pilots in Castile-La Mancha are residents from abroad, staying for a minimum of 6 months a year and who make use of planned care. They also constitute a significant patient potential on the Balearic Islands and in Catalonia.
In most of the regions, Patient Summary services will be provided for the entire population (Scenario 2), except for Andalusia that will focus on ePrescription/ eDispensation scenarios. ePrescription (Scenario 3) will be available to the entire population of Andalusia, the Balearic Islands, Catalonia and Valencia. In Castile-La Mancha, ePrescription will only be offered in Benquerencia. For incoming patients (acting as Country B), Patient Summary services will be offered on the four main Balearic Islands, at Costa del Sol in Andalusia, in Tarragonès and Maresme in Catalonia, in Toledo and Benquerencia in Castile-La Mancha and in the entire region of Valencia. ePrescription services for visitors are offered at Costa del Sol (Andalusia), Toledo (Castile-La Mancha), on all Balearic Islands, in the province Castellón (Valencia), and in Salou and Sant Feliu de Guíxols (Catalonia).
