Pilot Sites in France

The French pilots will focus on university students participating in the Erasmus exchange programme, an EU initiative promoting student mobility between European countries. Since the average stay at the foreign university is 7 months, the probability of using health care services in the host country is exceptionally high for Erasmus students. Moreover, the target population can easily be identified and approached via university administrations.

Patient Summary services will be offered to incoming and outgoing exchange students at the four universities of Paris-X, Lille, Dijon and Poitiers. In cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, ASIP Santé will offer the epSOS services directly at the university health care centers or at local hospitals. Prospective exchange students will be provided with information on epSOS services before arriving in the foreign country and encouraged to have their Patient Summaries created prior to departure.

Two scenarios will be in operation: Scenario 1 (acting as sender of Patient Summary information) for French students, and Scenario 2 (acting as receiver of Patient Summary information) for Erasmus students from other epSOS pilot sites.
