Pilot Sites in the Czech Republic
The Czech Republic has already adopted a central electronic health record system (‘IZIP’), which not only contains clinical information corresponding to the Patient Summary concept, but goes much further: data stored in the IZIP system comprises information on performed examinations, laboratory tests, prescribed medicines, x-rays, vaccination history and much more.
13,000 HCPs (30 % of the country total) are registered with IZIP, providing about 1.5 million citizens with a personal electronic health record (about 15 % of the population). This constitutes the target group of Pilot Scenario 2, in which the Czech Republic will act as the sender of Patient Summary data (Country A). It is planned that the companies providing travel insurance will add leaflets on the epSOS project to their travel insurance products to inform potential patients about the possibilities of epSOS.
Furthermore, the Czech Republic will implement Pilot Scenario 1, in which it acts as the receiver of Patient Summary data at numerous Points of Care located across the country. Scenario 1 aims at raising awareness among the involved Points of Care receiving foreign patients (among others, 50 hospitals – see map).
